This exciting book is the distillation of a decade of writing about and indulgently enjoying Spanish wine on the part of its author, experienced wine and travel writer, Graeme Chesters.

It is a comprehensive guide aimed at both wine novice and connoisseur and, indeed, everyone in between, and sets out to remove the foggy mystique that sometimes envelops the subject. The writing style is accessible and witty, affording a warm and pleasurable as well as extremely informative read.

Key topics include

  • vintage and grape variety
  • the best places to buy wine
  • how to store wine
  • matching food and wine

which, with the help of amusing drawings, embellish the real focus of the book, namely,

  • the best wines from different regions, in seven price bands, with tasting notes for some 1000 of them.

This book is absolutely essential reading for all who wish to avoid the stress - and potential embarrassment - of choosing wine from heaving retailers' shelves and often equally heaving restaurant wine lists.

Salud to that!
