Where is the land of the acorns? Which Roman baths cured Julius Caesar's illness? Where did King Robert the Bruce leave his heart? Which town shelters a 4000-year-old mystery?

The answers to these questions and many others are revealed in Back Roads of Southern Spain, a full-colour guide that takes you on twenty-five easy-to-follow routes by car or motor-bike around Andalucía.

The author David Baird, twice winner of Spain's top travel-writing award, leaves the beaten track to visit places where most tourists never think to venture: along byways that lead to trout streams and hiking trails, to lush vineyards and arid desert and to towns steeped in history and to troglodyte villages.

In addition to full route details and descriptions of the places visited, there are wonderfully evocative photographs and masses of practical information on the most important sights and events such as local fiestas, recommended overnight stops and places to eat.
